Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the awesome book nerds over at The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new topic is posted and bloggers respond with their Top Ten lists for that week’s topic.
I have not participated in Top Ten Tuesday in a while. I don’t know why I stopped doing it because I had so much fun taking part in TT. I love making lists so I decided to start doing it again. I might not take part every week. It will depend on whether or not I have anything to contribute for that week’s topic. Anyhow, this week’s topic is all about authors that were New-To-Me that I read for the first time in 2016. I thought this was a great topic to start with since I discovered quite a few new-to-me authors this year. I am going to break out my GoodReads app and check out my Read shelf to help me out. Let’s do this!
- Erik Larson – I recently participated in Non-Fiction November which is hosted by abookolive. I read Dead Wake by Erik Larson which is about the last crossing of the Lusitania. I loved his style of writing. I found it to be very easy to read and fascinating. I’m looking forward to picking up another one of his books soon.
- Deborah Harkness – I just finished taking part in the 2nd round of #TomeTopple. One of the tomes I tackled was A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. I was immediately sucked into a secret world of witches, vampires, and daemons. I could not put it down it was suspenseful, enthralling and OH MY GAWD that ending! I just started book two in the trilogy and I’m loving it so far.
- Carlos Ruiz Zafón – This year I experienced a dark Gothic young adult novel by this Spanish novelist and fell absolutely in love with his writing. Marina has a little of everything – romance, science fiction, thriller, suspense, mystery, and the dramatic atmosphere of an old gothic novel. I loved it! I think the next book I pick up by this author will be The Shadow of the Wind.
- Nicola Yoon – I read Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon in October. I had a few issues with the plot towards the end but overall I really enjoyed Yoon’s style of writing. I’m looking forward to reading The Sun is Also A Star which will be arriving in the mail soon via my Book of the Month subscription.
Ok so maybe not quite 10. I had other other authors that were new-to-me this year but I wasn’t a fan of the writing so I don’t feel they should be included in this list. What about you? What new-to-you authors did you discover this year? If you did a TT post please leave the linky below in the comments. I will come and check it out.
Happy reading book nerds!
