My Thoughts:

In Dare to Seduce, Carly Phillips draws us back into the world of the Dare Family. I absolutely adore this series. It’s fun, sexy and heartfelt. This installment centers around Lucy Dare and Max Savage. Lucy has been in love with Max, her brothers’ best friend, for as long as she can remember. Until now, Max has denied his feelings for Lucy and driven her away from New York. Now she’s back to attend her brother’s wedding, and Max is going to do everything in his power to make her stay.

I have to admit Lucy is not my favorite member of the Dare family. This could have a lot to do with why I had a hard time connecting with her. Lucy, who I thought came across as a strong and vibrant woman in previous books, is very insecure about her place in her family. She is very withdrawn and afraid to let anyone near her heart. Which I get, given her past and all, but her continuous guarded personality through most of the book made it very hard to like her. I found myself extremely frustrated with her at times. Max Savage has his own set of issues as well. I feel like his reaction to his family’s past was a bit over dramatic. Especially, when it led him to make such poor decisions.

Given the overkill of insecurities in this relationship, I had a hard time connecting with the couple as a whole.  They had plenty of sexy times, so it wasn’t a lack of sexual chemistry. I just didn’t feel that spark between them like I did with the other couples in the series. Which makes me kind of sad, because I really really wanted to feel it.

Overall, it was a quick and easy read. I felt it lacked some of the magic that the previous books in the series had for me. It is definitely on the angsty romance side, so if that’s your thing then you will enjoy this one. I enjoyed seeing some of my favorite characters show up and getting glimpses into their lives. Although, this book was not my favorite in the series it was still enjoyable. I look forward to the next one. If you like second-chance romances than you might want to give this one a try. The Dare series overall is a fun and sexy read. I recommend you read it.
