Obsidian
There’s an alien next door. And with his looming height and eerie green eyes, he’s hot… until he opens his mouth. He’s infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, he marks me. Turns out he has a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal his abilities and the only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to him until my alien mojo fades. If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Onyx
Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems. I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

My Thoughts:

Why did I wait so long to start this series? I have no clue, except maybe I was afraid it wouldn’t live up to the hype. My deepest apologies to you, Jennifer L. Armentrout, for ever doubting you. Shame on me, I should know better by now. Lux Beginnings is a bind copy of the first two books in the series, Obsidian and Onyx. A thrilling and fast-paced start to the series. Katy is downright adorable, not to mention feisty and completely easy to relate to. Hello? She’s a book nerd and blogger like me! Daemon is just…the words fail me. I love him and hate him and love him. It’s a vicious circle.

I love that this book was about aliens and not the usual vampire/human love story that’s been so over played. The Luxen are an amazing species, and I like that they all have unique powers yet manage to blend in with human society so easily. My favorite Luxen, other than Daemon, was Dee. She’s hilarious, sweet, fun, and does a great job of keeping Daemon on his toes.

The chemistry between Katy and Daemon is completely on point. Their love/hate relationship makes for a fun and entertaining read. I love that Katy is not intimidated by the fact that he’s strong and powerful. She does not hesitate to put him in his place when he’s out of line. I also like that despite everything that is going on Katy remains true to herself. At first, I found Daemon very frustrating, and frankly kind of a jerk. He has his reasons for that, which are revealed later in the book. As the story progresses though, Daemon slowly reveals different sides of his personality to Katy making him hard to resist. Definitely swoon worthy book boyfriend material.

Overall, Lux Beginnings is a fun and refreshing fast-paced read. I absolutely love Katy. The chemistry between Katy and Daemon is sizzling and just fun to read. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to find out what happens next. If you haven’t read this series yet, you really should go read it. If you have I’d love to hear your thoughts/favorite quotes in the comments section. Just please don’t spoil the rest of the series for me. I’m still reading it.

Notable quotes/parts:
“Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys.”

“Remind me,” he paused, drawing in a stuttered gasp, “to never piss you off again. Christ, are you secretly a ninja?”

“Daemon: I checked out your blog.
Katy: Stalking me again, I see. Do I need to get a restraining order?
Daemon: In your dreams, Kitten. Oh wait, I’m already starring in those, aren’t I?
Katy: Nightmares, Daemon. Nightmares.”

Rating: 5 Stars!
